![]() Ghostly Adventures reminded me of this favorite title so much, I actually had to dig out my old Game Boy Advance SP just to give it another whirl and sure enough both titles complement each other perfectly. The title revolutionized character-based side-scrolling gameplay with its unique aerial combos and character modifications. If handheld gamers have never experienced this cult classic side-scroller developed by the gameplay geniuses at Treasure and Sega’s Hitmaker Studios. The game that I’m talking about is Astro Boy: Omega Factor on the Game Boy Advance. But where gamers might think this to be a cop-out on the part of the developers, it actually introduces some really interesting gameplay mechanics that hearken back to a certain cult-classic title that I am sure most of the younger gamers out there have no clue ever existed. The most noticeable difference is the change in perspective – other versions of the game take on a third-person perspective, whereas on the 3DS the gameplay is largely 2D side-scrolling action. ![]() So, you can imagine my surprise, and my elation, when I discovered that while the 3DS version of Ghostly Adventures follows pretty much the same storyline of the Xbox 360 title, the gameplay differs so greatly that it feels like a completely different game. Not that I wasn’t impressed by the Xbox 360 version of the game, in fact I was quite impressed by it – but it is often hard to be completely objective in any review when playing a game the second time through, especially when playing on a less-powerful handheld. Three golden orbs are on a table, and while Sir C is explaining what they are to Pac-Man, four ghosts from the netherworld (Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde) come and tell Pac-Man that Pacopolis is under attack by the forces of Betrayus, king of the netherworld. The game begins with Pac-Man and his friends walk into Sir Cumference's lab. The game, along with Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 and Pac-Man Museum were delisted from retailers in July 2020. On March 1, 2014, Bandai Namco announced a sequel called Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2. Both versions were published by Namco Bandai Games. The console and PC versions were developed by Monkey Bar Games and the 3DS version was developed by Inti Creates. It was released for the Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 3, and Wii U in October 2013, and was later released for the Nintendo 3DS in November of that year. Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, also known in Japan as Pac-World is a 3D platform video game based on the TV series of the same name which aired on Disney XD from 2013 to 2015.
